Gyronny of sixteen Or and Argent a Lozenge Azure (charged with a crescent for difference)Under the English system of cadency, the second son bears his father's arms charged with a crescent. Under the Laws of Arms of Scotland, whilst a minor in his parent's household, the second son may bear his father's arms by courtesy with the temporary cadency mark of a crescent. On leaving the parental home or on marriage, he must petition the Lord Lyon King of Arms for rematriculation of these arms in his own name with a suitable difference. |
